Peach Compote

This is a simple recipe that is super versatile. It can be used as a base for savory items like BBQ sauce or used in a dessert. In a scratch kitchen, recipes like these are cornerstones that we all lean on. 

Ingredients

  • 2 lb.- fresh peaches (diced) 

  • ¼ lb.- dark brown sugar 

  • 1 tsp- sea salt 

  • Tools
  • Knife

  • Cutting board

  • Mixing bowl

  • Measuring utensils 

  • Sauce pot

Method

  • In a saucepan on low heat, macerate the peaches and sugar. Allow it to simmer until it has a smooth homogenized texture.
  • Give it a taste and adjust to your taste. The salt is like a bridge for flavor and brings out the fullness of the peach flavor.
  • Once satisfied, spread out on a baking sheet and refrigerate to cool it down quickly. This stops the cooking process and adds shelf life to your ingredient.
