Slow Braised Green Beans

Ingredients

  • ½ Lb- bacon of your choice 

  • 3 Lb- trimmed green beans fresh 

  • 4 T- minced garlic 

  • 2 C- minced onion 

  • ¼ C- apple cider vinegar 

  • Tools
  • Cutting board 

  • Knife 

  • Measuring utensils 

  • Sauce pot or braise pan

Method

  • Wash your green beans and allow them to drip dry.
  • Cut bacon into small strips and render until crispy. Remove crispy bacon and reserve it to finish the dish.
  • Add the bean to hot bacon fat and allow it to cook down on medium-low heat. This is similar to cooking collard greens. The beans release some of their moisture.
  • Once that happens add in the apple cider vinegar and allow to cook until the bitterness has evaporated.
  • Season with salt and black pepper.
